RodneyWinters Rodney, describe yourself for our visitors.

I am a father of two. I have a passion for teaching and preaching, and a burden for seeing hurting people made whole. I am a laid-back person who enjoys listening to gospel music. I stay busy with family, ministry, teaching at the college level, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I have to make time to connect with God. Otherwise, I would never find time. I have a hectic daily schedule, so it’s important to prioritize time with God. I’m currently reading through the Bible again this year, although I admit I am behind schedule.

How faithful you are to Divine order will spell the difference between success and failure. “I believe I can fly” the song says…if you truly believe that you CAN, you will! It’s amazing to me how much we can learn from animals. Existing with them in this world has allowed us to be cognizant of their habits and the essence of their presence.

Many places in the Bible there are references to animals, i.e., snakes, sheep, doves, a donkey, etc. My favorite, bar none, is the eagle! Why the eagle? In Isaiah we are told that “if we trust in the Lord we would find new strength and fly high like eagles”…well, let’s see how we can be faithful in doing this as it pertain to our choice on becoming the best authors that we can be. I would like to share some characteristics of eagles that we, both as believers and as astute caretakers of applying words to illustrate our stories can be definitive.

Scars are Beautiful

by Sharon Ewell Foster

In many cultures scars are beautiful—they denote honor and standing. Through intricate patterns, man-made scars share the story, the timeline, and history of the one who bears them.

But I didn’t grow up in one of those places. I was born in Texas and grew up in Illinois . And though some people may consider Texas wild and the Midwest no man’s land, in both those places scars are not considered a good thing. Growing up with four brothers, I always seemed to be falling down—on my knees, my elbows, my chin, and I even gashed my ankle up pretty good. My mother invested in a lot of cocoa butter, rubbing that chocolate-smelling hard fat on my wounds, hoping that her only daughter wouldn’t be a scarred up mess that would bring shame on the family. “Be careful now.” Pain and worry made her frown. “You don’t want to wear stockings and have scars showing through.”

INTERVIEW | Billie Jean King

backcoverrelease Billie Jean, describe yourself for our visitors.

Hmm…I see myself as being focused, with a definite purpose in sight. I understand that my destiny will not be achieved without direction and guidance from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’m resilient, I do not allow past failures, struggles, and disappointments from friends or loved one’s to alter or put a damper on my dreams. I love offering encouraging words or ideas to individuals, especially women, that will help them in identifying their God given purpose in their life. My daughter refers to me as a “free spirit;” I guess I’ll have to agree with her. I love to have fun, I possess a great sense of humor and I love…to daydream.

How do you find time to connect with God?

Chuckle…That is not an option! I just do it!

Access Granted

image Access Granted
by Becky DeWitt

The month of February is a month which there is a great celebration of love especially on Valentine’s Day. But there is a greater celebration of love that occurs every day of the year and it is eternal love. It is the love of the Father for each and every one of us. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

God is so awesome that at the beginning of creation, even though He already knew the outcome, He made provision to reconcile us back into His presence. Prior to our existence in this natural world, we were with Him in the supernatural. The minute that we are born, the enemy targets us for his usage. God’s love for us was the reason that He provided the access that overrides the world system from which the enemy operates. In other words, there is not a reason for anyone who comes into this world to miss the opportunity to be and return into His presence.

image A Love Letter To My LORD
by Damainion L. Ewell

My Dearest LORD,

I am not sure where to begin, or what to even say at the time of this letter. To be perfectly honest, I do not know what to even call You. You have so many names that carry so many different meanings, depending on what situation I am faced with at the moment. When I am broke and clinging on to my last dime, I call You Jehovah-Jireh, the LORD my provider. When I am sick and clinging on to my last breath, I call You Jehovah-Ropheka, the LORD my healer. When utter HELL and chaos is front and center in my life, I call You Jehovah-Shalom, the LORD my peace. When I begin to curse and come out of character, I call You Jehovah-Tsidkenu, the LORD my righteousness. When I am in a sin-ridden existence and have nothing but darkness to befriend me, I call You Jehovah-Mekaddishkem, the LORD my sanctifier.
