IMG_8560 Jackie, describe yourself for our visitors.

I’m a single mother of two boys from Detroit.  I have been writing for more than ten years. Christian Fiction and Romance are my first loves. Over the years, I have completed and published other Christian-related articles, stories, and novellas.  I didn’t discover a love for writing until a very good friend who knew I loved talking about God, asked me to write a few devotionals for her.  Not only did I discover I rather enjoyed that daunting task, I was good at it.

I’m just a down to earth church girl who loves the word of God most of all. I’m a wife and mother of two beautiful young ladies. I teach at a private Christian school that I co-own with a very good friend of mine. Working with kids is something I’ve always done naturally as well. So I run that business by day, then go home to run my own independent press and do my independent writing projects by night. So my passion is writing and I call myself a kingdom writer. I am the author of  several collections of poetry, a Christian fiction novel, and a non fiction book as well.

I am the pastor of Advent United Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio. I have two children, a daughter, Caroline, who graduated from Spelman College in 2008 and a son who is in college at this time. I graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles, Ca., and went to Yale Divinity School where I got my M.Div and United Theological Seminary where I earned my D.Min.  I’ve done a lot of things in my life that I am proud of, but one of the highest points in my life happened last year when I went to Oxford University in England to give a paper. It was so exciting for me to be in a place where so many famous writers, statesmen and others have been. I cannot put into words how much I loved being there!
