National Poetry Month | Patricia Neely-Dorsey

Patricia Neely-Dorsey’s fascinating book of poetry, Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia, is a true celebration of the south and things southern. Using childhood memories, personal thoughts  and dreams, the author offers a positive glimpse into the southern way of life.

The author states, “There are so many negative connotations associated with Mississippi and the south in general. I want to to show a flip side of the coin. There is much to love about this much maligned and misunderstood part of our country.”

Wanda, tell us about Illusions

In Illusions I use a pastor’s secret addiction to tell a story of love and redemption. Illusions is a good example of God’s unfailing love for us as we struggle. As readers turn the pages, they well see that is really is an illusion to believe we have to be perfect before God can use us.

Illusions demonstrates how hiding secrets is detrimental to families and the Christian walk. It also teaches a good lesson in affirming one’s identity in God and not in titles or position.

A Literary Christmas Celebration Presents Tia McCollors

wvb-blog

Christmas all month with WrittenVoicesBlog.com.  This week, we will meet the some of the award-winning, bestselling authors of  the Anointed Authors on Tour.

Tia McCollors – CHRISTmas is my absolute favorite time of year. Above all, I can’t help but thank God for the gift of His son Jesus Christ. Christmas morning is always one of the most peaceful days in my house, despite the excited chatter of family and the squeals of my two and a half year old who finds more joy in ripping off paper than he does with the gift in the box! My five month old is content right now staring at the lights on the Christmas tree.  Christmas is also a time to relish family traditions, like choosing a special ornament for each of my children that represents something signficant that happened for them that year. Because of that, my Christmas decorations bring up great memories!

Guest Blogger & Author Reading: LaConnie Taylor-Jones

LaConnie Taylor-Jones During an author interview several months ago, the interviewer asked, “So, tell me, what genre do you write?”

I thought about the question for a moment, and proudly replied, “Old School Romance.”

Now you’re probably wondering exactly what old school romance is!
Well, I grew up during the era when groups like the O’Jays, The Manhattans, and The Spinners cranked out hits, after hits, after glorious hits.  Talk about classic love songs!! Even today, the lyrics vividly portray the love, passion, and commitment between the right man and woman.
