INTERVIEW | Danyelle Scroggins, author of Put in Ink @pastordanyelle

Danyelle, tell us about yourself.

I am the Senior Site Pastor of New Vessels Ministries North in Shreveport, Louisiana and the wife of Pastor Reynard Scroggins Sr. who I labor alongside in the Gospel. I am presently working on a Master of Religious Education from Liberty University. I own Divinely Sown Publishing LLC and is the author of several fiction and non-fiction books. A mother of three, with two additional sons by marriage, and the grandmother of Emiya’rai Grace.

How do you find time to connect with God?

Connecting with God is imperative not only because of who I am, but also because of what I do. I have learned to discipline myself for disciplines such as prayer, meditation, studying, listening, and fasting; all which helps to create a constant act of seeking.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

My absolute all time favorite book is the Holy Bible as it never gets boring and is daily fulfilling itself and Paul is my choice of Biblical authors. Historically, I fell in love with the writing styles of Dietrich Bonhoeffer- Discipleship & Bonhoeffer On The Christian Life and Watchman Nee- Classics- The Spiritual Man. I adore the writing style of new indie author Ann Marie Johnson-Bryan and there is not a series written by Brenda Barrett that I have not purchased. So as you see I have an array of writers and styles that I love.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

My journey started with my very own self-published book “Not Until You’re Ready”. It has indeed been a journey filled with both pleasurable and challenging moments, but one thing is for sure, I understand that writing is a gift and all gifts from God are given with the provisions for you (as a person) to produce. It is indeed a part of your purpose.

Tell us about your current book?

Put It In Ink is about a young lady named Nikiya Barnett who thought she was going to be the wife of the love of her life, Raja Abrams. All of her dreams and visions shattered when she found Raja in a compromising position with the lady who is now his wife, Monica Abrams. Nikiya (Nikki) moves forward trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart by pouring all of her time and energy into building a chain of salons called Salon Selects.

Raja, is trying to adapt to his new wife and his new life and soon to be status of a father. He finds that his happiness is compromised because his wife cannot let his past with Nikiya go. In search of finding deeper meaning for his life, he hires a talk show host for his blog talk radio station named Sappora Ink. Sis. Ink, not only changes Raja life, but she also touches Nikiya, her co-workers, her patrons, and thousands of listeners around the world.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

I worked in a salon years ago as a beautician and I actually began writing the book then. It was like a jewel on hold until I went through some more processes in my life and could understand the power of God when we put visions, dreams, and goals in ink.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

First, I would like readers to understand that God is more than a hand of provision and an afterthought after we have tried everyone and everything else. He is truly a way maker and must always be our first choice. My books relay this. Second, I want people to understand that when we write our visions and make them plain, it not only introduce God to our faith, it exposes our faith to God. Lastly, I want single women to understand that God can walk their husbands right up to their doorsteps when we seek Him and His righteousness all of our needs and desires are added unto us.

What’s next for you?

I just finished an anthology and will be releasing my story as a standalone entitled, “Enduring Love.” I am also working diligently on my children’s book series named “The Gat Pack”, and if the Lord wills, there is so much more in store concerning my ministry of books.
