Monifa, describe yourself for our visitors.
Grateful, Humble and Blessed are a few words I would use to describe myself. God has always been and continues to be good to me. I am grateful for each and every experience he has ushered me through. My experiences in life have humbled me big time. It is a blessing and a privilege to have been chosen by Him. I thank him for giving me a mind to want to serve Him.
Over the past 15 years, I have counseled a lot of people with different issues. I have worked with sexual predators, individuals faced with substance abuse challenges and individuals in the criminal justice system. I have also coached women entrepreneurs. Counseling all these people has brought me to one conclusion; and that is neither position nor status dictate the level of pain and misfortune one may encounter. So, it was not long before I realized the call on my life was much greater and that call is to introduce others to the tools and resources they need to help them navigate the storms in the life with a little more ease; and the primary resource is Jesus Christ.
On a fun note, I absolutely love to travel. My passport is always ready! LOL. I really enjoy exercising. I also like to shop, eat and I do my best to take a nap whenever I can.
Tell us about your journey to publication.
That’s an interesting story in and of itself. Here is the abbreviated version. After my father died, the Lord told me to do two things: Write “Change Beyond The Pain” and start my own publishing company (now known as Vision Publishing House, LLC). When he mentioned the publishing company, I remember saying to myself, I don’t know anything about publishing books, neither do I think I am interested in publishing anybody else’s books; but nevertheless I finally obeyed and I am so glad I did. The most important thing to me is maintaining the integrity of my work. I don’t have to worry about compromising the word of God for anybody. Going the traditional publishing route would have placed me in a box and that is not what God wanted. Now even though Vision Publishing House requires a lot of my time, the freedom to operate within God’s will is well worth it.
Tell us about your current book, Change Beyond The Pain?
Change Beyond The Pain was inspired by my father’s death. My father and I were very close. I was a daddy’s girl. When he passed away my world came to a screeching halt. I became extremely depressed and began questioning so many things in life, including, God’s existence. Questioning God’s existence may not seem like a big deal to some but it was HUGE for me, particularly since I grew up in the church. This book talks about some of the spiritual lessons I learned during my valley experience. It is my hope that my readers will be able to apply some of these lessons to their lives, thus helping them navigate the storms in their lives with much more ease and grace.
Faith, Surrender, God’s Perfect Will, God’s Perfect Timing,Power & Purpose in Your Pain, etc… These are just a fewthings Change Beyond The Pain will discuss! This book reaches beyond the surface. This book is for those who are ready to launch into the deep.
I want my readers to know that although the pain may be great; the mountain may be hard to climb; and although they may cry so many tears at times that their vision is blurred; God is faithful. There is power and purpose intheir pain! Healing, deliverance and transformation are within their reach. But it is only available if we surrender to His will and believe.
What’s next for you?
There are other books in the works. God definitely has more He wants to say through me. As far as goals for future projects, I am working on a workbook that will accompany “Change Beyond The Pain” to help provide individuals and groups with a resource for a more in-depth study. I will be hosting a show on the Cross Your Bridge Radio Summit entitled, Transforming Triumphantly. I will also be facilitating workshops and tele-seminars, speaking at various locations and prayerfully hosting spiritual retreats for women in the future.
