Janie, tell us about yourself.
Janie De Coster heard the word of the spirit instructing her to write a book. She had no idea of the genre so she just put pen to paper which led her to her first novel Man of My Dreams? release in 2006.
How do you find time to connect with God?
I find time to connect with God early in the morning and sometimes late in the evenings when everyone had settle down for the night. However I speak with him through out the day asking for his guidance and protection.
Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?
My favorite authors are Kimberla Lawson Roby with her Curtis Black series, Carl Weber Victoria Christopher Murrey. Also Altonya Washington. Vanessa Miller and Zane whom I had the pleasure of meeting.
Tell us about your journey to publication.
My journey in writing started off like a walk in the forest. I didn’t know where I was going, or how I was going to get there. I just started following the path. The path led me to the highs and lows of publishing, but all in all it was worth the journey.
My topic of my current book Broken Commandments has been examined frequently. But I took a different direction as I told the story not only in the eyes of the mistress, but I wanted my readers to see it from the male perspective as well.
How did you come up with ideas for this book?
My story has been taken straight from the head lines as our nation has succumbed to infidelity in high places.
What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?
I want my readers to see that high position or titles doesn’t exempt one from making mistakes. As it says in the Bible, we all are sinners and have fallen short. So we must learn to forgive others as we want to be forgiven.
What’s next for you?
I am working on my next novel due for release later this year.
