How Great is God? by M. Ann Ricks

How Great is God? by M. Ann Ricks

“And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God…” Exodus 6:7a

There was a time in my life when I was ready to simply throw in the towel. I was so ready to say, “Ok God…maybe I shouldn’t be writing, speaking, singing or anything.” I was feeling hurt, emotionally exhausted, uncertain, unaffirmed and defeated. One Sunday, we sang the song, “How Great Is Our God!” While singing the song, I heard the Spirit of God say, “Do you really believe that I am GREAT Melissa? If you believe that I am truly great, TRUST ME, Trust My Word, dream again, pursue and faint not. Don’t be afraid. I’m ALL that you need….. You will not fail! I won’t let you.”

There have been times in many of our lives where we have found ourselves at a crossroad and have stopped trusting, questioned and even doubted God. Situations have presented themselves that seemed insurmountable and challenges have come our way that seemed unwinnable. So many of us have lost sight, like I did, of how AWESOME and ALL POWERFUL our God is!

I am reminded to tell you that He IS the ALPHA ! He IS the BEGINNING. He existed before the beginning of time. He knew you. He knew all about your challenges, set-backs, disappointments and circumstances before you were born and chose YOU, ordained you, sanctified you, blessed you and made you an overcomer! You just have to believe.

He IS the OMEGA. He is the END (forever more), and knows the end of your story and has promised you a great future and your expected end. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end ” Jermiah 29:11

We triumph because He is GREAT and All- Knowing and has already written our victorious story.

He is truly the Author and The Finisher but we must have the faith in Him to let Him be just that!

Know that because you are in Him, YOU WIN! We are free to dream, pursue our Kingdom assignments, serve, love and trust. He is GREAT because He alone will cause our endeavors to be fruitful because we honor Him.”If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; … If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” John 12:26 There may be delays and feelings of uncertainty but ask and then confidently answer the question… “How Great is YOUR God?

We have been destined for greatness beyond our own imagination because the God we serve is GREAT! “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”1 Cor 1:9

Why is it so difficult for us to believe that our God is the GREAT I AM. We must stop looking at the situation and look at Him. Don’t begin to sink when the winds of life become erratic,(“But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink…” Matt 14:30,) keep your eyes on Jesus!

Our God trumps any situation we face. His name is above any name! Are you afraid? Don’t be! He has told us through His word, just like He told Abraham, “Do not be afraid. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” Genesis 15:1 He won’t let us fall or fail! How GREAT is that!? “I am the LORD your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:27

We must to tap into the reality of How GREAT our God is! Don’t limit Him with unbelief. We can have true peace in knowing how GREAT and wonderful our God is. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,” Just by reading and believing His word we can immerse ourselves in the truth of His GREATNESS and how we have no reason not to trust and believe Him because He has already given us everything we will ever need to live a an abundant life. “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” 2 Peter. 1:2-3

He is great because He is everything and all that we need.

If we need provision, He is Jehovah Jirah: Our Provider

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, …will He not much more clothe you”

When we need to be reminded of His protection especially in times of conflict and spiritual war, we can be reminded that He won’t let us fall because : He is Jehovah Nissi: Lord Our Banner “You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth” Psalm 60:4

When we sometimes wonder why we are here or even what our purpose is, He is Jehovah Hoseenu: The Lord our Maker. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

When faced with illness and need healing, He is Jehovah Ropheka: Our Healer

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; ….and by His stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:5

God will never leave us nor forsake us even during the lowest moments of our lives. He is Jehovah Shammah: The Lord is There.

‘And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” Matthew 28:20b

Our God promises to keep us in a perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. He is Jehovah Shalom: God of Peace! “Let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-8a

Recognize that your God is truly Great! Trust HIM! Believe HIM! He is not a man that He should lie! There is no other God like Him! When you are faced with situations that may cause you to want to give up, waiver in your assignment, doubt what you can accomplish and become concerned about the end result, remember… HE is your PROVIDER, MAKER, BANNER, PEACE, HEALER and so much more! He is your FRIEND!

“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends,” John 15:15

Are the sins of the father and mother visited upon their sons and daughters?

Undoubtedly damaged, Honey Lamb is a descendant of a legacy of molestation, addiction, murder and bad decisions. As long as she could remember, she believed the unhappiness she experienced was bequeathed to her; almost as if her own blood tainted her DNA. Experiencing more than her share of misery, Honey believed she’d overcome her past when she married Mason. Unfortunately, unsettling memories emerge to crack the veneer of her happy existence. Feeling unable to escape what she believed to be her destiny, Honey makes a decision that may have ruined her life. Not realizing God places people in our lives, she embarks upon a journey that will open her heart to a divine inheritance. Will she accept what God has already given or shun the invitation of salvation, allowing her familial legacy to continue?   Will she understand that Jesus redeemed us with a spiritual blood transfusion that could change us all?
