Folake, describe yourself for our visitors.

I like to think of myself as a fun loving debut author who is still very excited about being published. By day, I am a wife, a mother and an MD. I love being all those things, especially a mother.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I start my day with my quiet time using Our Daily Bread and I say a prayer. I also stay connected to God by talking to him throughout the day while driving, at work, doing chores, etc. I read things that edify and I do attent church at least on Sundays. I try to uplift others through my writing especially on facebook and my blog since it is not physically convenient to get to mid-week service and some of the activities that require my physical presence.

Do you have a favorite bible verse and or quote you wish to share?

I grew up on KJV so you will have to indulge me. It’s Isaiah 40:31. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

Tell us about your current book.

It’s an inspirational/ motivational book titled The Only Way is Up: The Journey of an Immigrant. This book is about being positive and always looking up for bigger and better, no matter what. I communicate a can-do attitude and share some of my life experiences as an immigrant to the United States.

What influenced you to write this book?

It was mostly just the overwhelming presence of lack of self esteem and self worth in our young sisters and the absence of fathers, all leading to skewed statistics that are through the roof concerning single parent homes especially in the African American community. It breaks my heart to look around and see people not have a sense of direction because nobody ever showed them how.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

I want readers to learn about the importance of good old fashioned family values, self esteem, self worth, success, faith, positivity, healthy living, better relationship skills and just believing in yourself and in God.

What’s next for you?

I am working on several projects now but all fiction. Hopefully, my debut fiction work will be Anonymous Gift Giver.
