Vanessa, describe yourself for our visitors.

I am a sister, daughter, friend, and lover of Christ. Who happens to also be an author, poet, and playwright. I love meeting new and interesting people.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I make the time. When I wake up in the morning. There is a thank you. Even when I am sleeping I can suddenly awake and say thank you, Jesus. This was not always so. I have been condition to do so. I suffered from a physical ailment for seven years. I would pray morning and night. Literally because of the physical pain I endured. I slept with chest tubes in my lung, due to repetitive lung collapsed. But there is glory in my story. I am connected with God.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

My journey to publication has been an enlightening one. It allowed me to see that I am stronger than I thought I was. Every round goes higher and higher. I self published my first novel which was a non-fiction titled, The Certain Ones: You’re not Forsaken. You’re Chosen for Purpose. This highlights my struggle with Catamenial Pnuemothorax. This is when a woman has her menses or period and her lung collapses in 24-48 hours. I would later venture into the fiction genre; it was more of a compelling to do so; because the characters in my head would not let me rest, as they had a story to tell. Seating myself behind my computer; I began to type out their story to share with the world. I’ve enjoyed the ride and their journey. I believe readers will too.

Tell us about your current book, Love Found Me.

Love Found Me, is a redeeming story. Which is better to never love or to have and lost love? Sheila didn’t grow up in a loving and nurturing environment, making it hard to authentically express love. Mike however grew up in a loving family and even married his high school sweet heart. An unexpected tragedy would alter Mike’s perception on love and trust. Could he love again?

What influenced you to write this book?

My love for writing was influential, love for family and friends, where all key elements for writing Love Found Me.

Did you have a favorite character(s)? Who and why?

The characters in Love Found Me, where all exciting and equally important. I think the most enduring was the little girl (her identity is a mystery until the end) at the beginning of the story. I just wanted to hold her in my arms and shelter her from the harness of the world.

What’s next for you?

I am working on the next installment in my love series, titled Love Lifted Me. In addition, I am working on the stage production of Love Found Me, to be performed sometime in the 2010 calendar year.
