INTERVIEW | Loretta Faith Harris

Loretta, describe yourself for our visitors.

My name is Loretta Faith Harris and I am an author of, “The Journey Less Traveled: Choose to Turn Your Tragedy into Triumph” and publisher for C.H. Publishing. I am an avid reader, motivational speaker, radio personality, and just someone who has a passion and desire to live life to its fullest! I am a firm believer that the Blessings of God awaits anyone and everyone who is willing to move forward by faith and possess them!

How do you find time to connect with God?

I believe that prayer is essential. It is the only way that we can ever discover the very heart beat of God. It should not be our last resort; instead prayer should be a way of live. I don’t feel comfortable starting the day and heading out the door if I have not given adequate time to the Lord to inquiry about His agenda for the day. I am alive because of prayer and this is what will keep me.

Do you have a favorite bible verse and or quote you wish to share?

Yes. It’s in the book of Saint John the first chapter. “To those who believe to them gave he POWER to become the sons of God.” This speaks to our very existence as children of the true and living God. Another favorite quote is, “Success is when preparation meets opportunity.” At all times we are to be ready for the blessings of God.

Who are your favorite authors?

Favorite books? Favorite authors are John C. Maxwell, Joyce Meyers, Mitch Album, T.D. Jakes, and Rick Warren just to name a few. My favorite book is, you guessed it; the Bible!

Tell us about your journey to publication.

This started out as a desire during my sixth grade year. I wrote my first story and loved it! Then as time progressed, I often dreamed about writing children’s books. Well, in 2006 my middle school students (6th grade) and I coauthored five chapter books as a fourth nine weeks project. The next day after these books were completed I met in a tragic car accident. I was out in a coma, on life support, and in ICU for over a month. I had to take a leave of absence for a year just to recuperate and go through the necessary rehabilitation. After over 12 surgeries, countless complications and indescribable pain, I survived to tell my story in the form of a memoir.

Tell us about your current book.

“The Journey Less Traveled: Choose to Turn Your Tragedy into Triumph” highlights my encounter with death. I met death head on in a fatal car crash in 2006. This book emerged from the opportunity that presented itself to share my pain and hardship with other survivors of tragedy or anyone in need of emotional, spiritual, and mental support.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

This book was not by choice. The only way that I can describe it is that in 2006 I became a candidate for promotion. God chose me to be His voice and example of grace, healing miracles, and power.

What influenced you to write this book?

After much denial, bitterness, regrets, frustration, anger, and confusion, I decided to go along with God’s plan for my life. This journey detailed within the contents of this book was not easy to formulate, but I felt that I owed it to myself to give a genuine account of someone who was faced with adversity and decided to overcome.

Did you have a favorite character(s)? Who and why?

I am the true character in this memoir, but I talk about other well known individuals. I discuss the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Jesus Christ, and Job.

What’s next for you?

I am moving forward in other areas of my life such as modeling, adventurous endeavors (skydiving) and more writing. Stay tuned for, “101 Reasons to Live,” which is scheduled for release in 2010.
