INTERVIEW | Danyelle Scroggins

Danyelle, describe yourself for our visitors.

I am the Assistant Pastor of New Vessels Ministries, where I co-labor in the gospel with my husband Pastor Reynard C. Scroggins.  I enjoy reading and writing and I spend a lot of time doing both.

My favorite music is gospel and my favorite artist is Marvin Sapp.  I do like a couple of R& B artists who I believe speak from the heart of a women and uses poetic lyrics like: Jill Scott and India Arie.  I also like the sounds of Norah Jones-that soft jazzy flow type of music.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I make time because without Him, I would have no time.  I have made it a priority.  It’s a part of my daily schedule through prayer.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

I love Bishop T. D. Jakes books.  Jacquelin Thomas and Brenda Jackson are among my favorite authors.

My absolute favorite book is the Holy Bible. Why? Because You Are AnointedThe Pastor’s Woman, Defining Moments, Brenda Jackson Braddock Family Series, and And Still I Rise by Maya Angelou.  I have so many books that I just love.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

It has certainly been just that, a journey.  God allowed me to self-publish Not Until You’re Ready after being turned down by so many publishers.  I sold three thousand copies.

Then I was compelled to re-release the book.  Someone hadn’t read it and God needed it to get into their hands.  This time, I went with a publisher who might not work for some but has been okay for me.  Although, I do believe that I will go another route the next time.

I believe that God allows us to go through for so many different reasons but the main reason is to test and produce our faith.  It’s been a long journey but certainly, it’s been a faith journey.

Tell us about your current book?

Not Until You’re Ready details the period in my life after divorce and the transition into my purpose.  It was meant to speak into the hearts of God’s daughters concerning marriage, loneliness, and an array of subjects that I’m sure will either bless them or rebuke them.

I wrote it in pure love because no one desires to tell their secrets.  God spoke to me and said, “Danyelle you revealed so that others may be healed.”  So in part, it’s a book of healing.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

There were really no ideas.  This book was truly Holy Ghost inspired.  God just laid it on my heart to write about my journey.  You know back then, I would have hurried up and gave my journey away, but now, I’ve come to appreciate my journey.

List your three most recent books.

His Mistress or God’s Daughter?, which imparts the reality that it is far better to be God’s daughter than anyone’s mistress, is the next to be released.  Destiny’s Decision and Not Too Far Gone, which are my first two Christian Fictions will be ready hopefully within the next year as well.

What’s next for you?

I’m working on a couple more books as of now.  I also see myself doing some much needed conferences on topics relating to what’s going on now in the lives of God’s Daughters.

Where can visitors find you online?

Not Until You’re Ready is absolutely wonderful! It speaks volumes and Danyelle lives the life she preaches. I know! If you haven’t already gotten this book, I believe you should. Every woman should have a copy if not for themselves, for their daughters, nieces, or even for their friends.

I read the book “Not Until You’re Ready” and the book really did bless me and I have encouraged my daughter, age 22, to read the book for I feel it will help her not to make mistakes that young ladies sometimes make in life when it comes to dealing with dating. Mrs. Scroggins continue to let the Lord use you to bless others.
