A Literary Christmas Celebration Presents Linda Hargrove

My Christmas Memory
Linda Hargrove
Christmas is a hard time for those who have fallen on hard times, but it doesn’t have to be a sad time. That’s one thing my parents taught me. They didn’t say it with words. They said it with the things we did and the food we ate every year, only on Christmas. There’s power in some traditions, especially the ones that bring family together.

What Christmas Means To Me
For me, Christmas is a time to reflect upon God’s love. It’s a time of unity. Christmas is a reminder of how God loved me so much that He gave His greatest gift to me, His son Jesus Christ. It is also a time to look at my own children and realize how blessed I am to have them.
BOOK REVIEW | The Flavor of Our Hispanic Faith
The Flavor of Our Hispanic Faith
by Karen Valentin and Edwin Aymat
Christians share many common factors, but we’re all shaped by our cultural backgrounds. Culture plays an important role in how we worship and in our individual journeys of faith. Often the various faith practices are not represented or even acknowledged for that matter in society. The Flavor of Our Hispanic Faith will appeal to Hispanics and Non-Hispanics alike. It’s a short read, that provides major eye-openers.

Necessity Gifts
Wanda B. Campbell
My childhood memories of Christmas are not the rubber-stamped memories most children enjoy. The debate over the reality or fantasy of Santa Claus was never an issue in our cramped two-bedroom duplex. He didn’t exist. My mother and step-father were the source of the oranges, apples, walnuts and peppermint candy that served as our Christmas presents. On a good year, my four siblings and I would be treated to a pack of t-shirts, underwear and socks-practical gifts. Of course we desired the latest fashions and toys, but when the thermostat dipped below forty degrees we cherished our necessity gifts.
INTERVIEW | Roland V. Tyler
Roland, describe yourself for our visitors.
From an early age I always believed that God cursed my life. Because of the mental and physical abuse inflicted by my parents onto my brother and I. Although we were not the best behaved hearing the negative remarks from extended family members and neighbors did not make the situation better. Society’s statistics would say that the ill will’s of my life should have led me down a dark path of no return, but God’s unwavering love turned me around. Even with the loss of my entire family before the age of twenty one God has given me a peace and joy that many readers cannot believe.
