THE JOURNEY | Get Back on Track

by Becky DeWitt

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place." (2 Chronicles 7:14-15).

It is time for this nation to get back on track. These words are a call to the people of God. We must remember who is the source off all things from which this nation was formed. Many of the people who participated in the framework of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were Christians. There were a few good men who worked on both documents. The first five presidents of this nation strongly endorsed Christian values for this nation. I think that sometimes we forget the original purpose that many endured the hardship of the Mayflower voyage.

At this present time this nation is in a crisis mode. It is not just one, but many. It did not just happen overnight. There is cause and effect. The enemy has had time for extensive strategic development and operations in many areas to continually move forward at full force. Believers have drifted into the wiles of the enemy forgetting the true purpose of the Kingdom. We have been infected with discouragement, deception, defeat, distraction, and all the other "D’s" of the enemy. By allowing this, there has been a loss of power and authority.

Speaking of distractions, they are always finding ways to surface. One of the many things that I learned from my Pastor was to check what you were doing prior to the distraction. In most instances it was something great for God or even a mighty revelation that was about to open your eyes. Always go back and meditate on where you were before the distraction/attack occurred. The enemy did not want you to have whatever it was, because it was important enough for him to stop or delay you.

Now is the time for show and tell. We have become reactive instead of proactive in our prayers. Yes, there are still some true intercessors burdened with the heart of God. But it is time to seek the face of the Lord like never before. How many signs do we need to understand that our effectual fervent prayers are past due?

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:’1-4). The times in which we live places a demand for every type of prayer. If you want to have a quiet and peaceable life, start praying for those in authority in the government. Read the Word. It is expected of the members of the Body of Christ. Let’s stop filling the atmosphere with complaints and do something with our mouths and our knees. Better yet, how about lying on our faces, prostrate since there is so much to repent for.

We who are made in the image of the Creator, vessels that carry the Holy Spirit, should be speaking His Word for the creation of change. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." (Proverbs 18:21). Have you ever noticed that Believers always quote the first part of that scripture? What about the ‘fruit’ of what is said? Where are all your words going on the expressway of life? They are driving to some destination to do something upon arrival.

The Bible is full of lifelong lessons for us to learn from the mistakes of those who had a history with God. Remember the Israelites walked around in the desert for 40 years because of their words- murmuring and complaining. "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth." (Proverbs 6:2). Is it evident where our words have not only trapped us, but led us into the present day crisis? Our schools are a perfect example. No prayer but full guns, knives, sex, and things one cannot even imagine that are not education related. We are off track, derailed by the cares of this world which come from the wisdom of men.

Recently, I was walking through my house and heard something that was said on the television that got my attention. It was "there is a miracle for every minute." I probably have heard this before somewhere, maybe Bible Study. But this time it was different. I begin to mediate on this. My definition of a miracle is a supernatural extraordinary event that that interrupts the earthly course of nature causing one to marvel or wonder at the manifestation. I am thinking about how Adam lost the God given dominion and authority to the enemy in the garden, which really made a mess to open the doors of sin. God is a spirit and He needs a vessel, a body that has been born again and cleansed through the salvation process to decree and declare His words – as it is in heaven to be so on the earth. We are crying out for change, but have failed to be in position. Even creation is groaning for the manifestation of the Sons of God. It is time to bombard heaven, piercing through the hindering forces of the prince of the power of the air, with a cry that move the posts of the doors of heaven so that the land will be filled with His glory like never before.

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars." (2 Chronicles 16:9).
