Shelia Lipsey’s third novel, My Son’s Wife will be released October 1, 2008.

Shelia E. Lipsey is a native Memphian. She attended Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi, graduating magna cum laude with a BBA degree. Lipsey, a published author, professional copyeditor and inspirational speaker has been actively writing and speaking most of her life. Lipsey has written several short stories and over 200 poems which she has plans of publishing in the near future. Her novels with Urban Books are entitled, Into Each Life (Jan. ’07), Sinsatiable (Aug.’07).

I  told Hezekiah I wanted to live in Potomac or Chevy Chase or North Bethesda, someplace with cachet, where people had money and minded their own business. I didn’t know this for a fact, of course—that they minded their own business—but it sounded good and gave me one more reason to tick off in favor of living there. Montgomery County had seasoned money and grand old homes—or, in Potomac, breathtakingly newer homes. Exquisite shopping. And neighbors who would be concerned mostly with themselves and, perhaps, the fleeting question of how another black family amassed enough nickels to break bread among them. They wouldn’t get to know me, I wouldn’t get to know them. And we would revel, the neighbors and I, in perpetual aloofness.

One of the most intriguing things I believe is the changing of the seasons. We all experience winter, spring, summer and fall each of which has a unique flavor to it. Regardless of the season, we have learned how to make the necessary adjustment to become comfortable. When it is hot in the summer we turn on the air conditioner. When it gets cold in the winter we turn the heaters on. When it is a cool spring or fall day we open the windows and doors. Nevertheless, we have learned to adjust with the seasons of nature.
