The beginning of the book of Acts gives the account of Believers in the process of being transformed into the Body of Christ, transitioning the message of the Gospel with the demonstration of signs, wonders, and miracles. Jesus had ascended back to His heavenly position, releasing the Holy Spirit to move working with Believers to fulfill the Great Commission of ‘Go Ye’. “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.” (Mark 16:20). It was these signs, the wonderful work of God that attracted people to the truth of Jesus Christ.
Following the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the upper room, when Peter spoke the truth of the Gospel, “they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41). The people were so amazed at the initial outpouring of the Holy Spirit, when the tongues manifested that they questioned the meaning of what had happened. Peter spoke boldly about Jesus, preaching the Word made flesh among them. On that day, Peter’s voice was used to open the great and mighty doors to the Kingdom. Was it his revelation in Matthew 16:19 that provided the keys for access?
The atmosphere was already charged and set as this particular time had already been written in eternity. The faith of those that heard came with expectation, anticipation, and moved with inspiration to receive the seed of righteousness for their new birth. The body of Believers multiplied in one day through the voice of one man.
Can you even imagine or visualize participating in a service where three thousand people give their lives to Jesus Christ? Make no mistake it is happening. Where is that, you may ask? It is happening where the hungry reside. It is happening where the people just want Jesus. They do not want a religion, a man-made doctrine, or all the how-to-do’s. They just purely and simply want to know Him and be in His presence. All they want is to GG=Get God. Of course we know that our God is a God of order, but there is a form of godliness with no power, which hinders many from coming to the Body of Christ. Many question where are the signs and wonders that they read about.
The last two verses in Acts, Chapter 2, state that they continued on one accord daily “praising God, and having favor with all people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” (Acts 2:47). Are we, the Body of Christ, ready and in position to receive such a great move of people seeking God unlike any other time before? There is a heart cry, a hunger for Him that has no precedent. His ears are open to their cry because He hears everything. Their cry has bowed His ear so that He must come to deliver quickly.
Recently, while working in a temporary position, I befriended a young lady who had tattoos and was pierced in several places on her face and tongue, as well as spiked hair. As she sat next to me, I began to question God about this assignment and the purpose that He had for me. The Body of Christ must mature to understand and realize that the Father loves us all and He wants us to be reconciled to a relationship with Him. That is why He sent His only Son, Jesus. He wants His sons and daughters. He sees their hearts.
One day as she fell ill, I pondered within as to when, where and how I could pray with her. The Holy Spirit even reminded me that there was a lack of boldness on my part. I thought that I was using wisdom for the correct timing. Finally, when we took a break, I asked if I could pray for her. She said yes without any hesitation. The prayer was not elaborate, but simple and short. When I finished, she hugged me so tight as if she was hanging on for life, while her tears flowed. Today, she is often in my thoughts and prayers. The assignment, which led me to meet her and pray for her only lasted three weeks, but the encounter was ordained before the foundation of the world. About three weeks later, I saw a man on television that God was using mightily. Guess what? He was tattooed all over his arms and pierced in several places too!
In Matthew 4:18-22, Jesus called four fishermen to follow Him. He told Peter and Andrew that He would make them fishers of men. Now is the time to launch out into the deep. It is in the deep, the place where no one wants to go, where the greatest catch of jewels are. Remember in Luke, Chapter 5, Jesus instructed Peter to launch out into the deep and let down the nets for a catch. “Nevertheless at thy word, I will let down the net.” (Luke 5:5b). This catch will break the net and everything is in it. This catch that is coming is wild and has been in the deep with the enemy.
The disciples were effective in the daily addition because they followed the pattern that Jesus had established and were obedient to His word. There has been a deviation in the pattern that is why there is no daily addition on the scale that Jesus purposed. Where are the people who qualify as disciples of Jesus to stand up and speak so that the daily addition would increase the souls in the Kingdom? Are we ready for the predestined time of great Kingdom addition? Will you let tradition hinder and blind you to the current move of God? He does what He wants, when He wants, because He is GOD! Is it possible that these are the ones with something special in their spiritual DNA imparted for such a time as this? Are they the ones that will lead many out of captivity? Is the enemy so fearful of what they possess, that he is constantly on the attack to destroy a generation by any means necessary?
God has “declared the former things from the beginning: and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they come to pass.” (Isaiah 48:3). What shall we say to these things? Shall we become judgmental and cry error? Shall we embrace with the love that never fails? Could such a move of God go from the Daily Addition of souls to the Daily Edition of the new media? We need the good news- The Gospel! Lord, whatever you are doing in this season, please do not do it without me.
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal; the Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19)
