INTERVIEW | Wanza Leftwich

Wanza, describe yourself for our visitors.

What can I tell you about myself? Well, I must say that I love God and working for my church full time. Outside of that, I am a wife and mom to a precious little girl! I enjoy reading, writing and watching TV. Lately, I’ve been getting hooked on reality shows – esp. Top Chef and Project Runway!

How do you find time to connect with God?

Between working full time for my church, being a wife and mom, I find time with God in strange places. I usually have prayer time in the shower or bath. My favorite time is when I can wake up in the middle of the night and meditate on God’s word. It is quiet and there are no distractions. I get my best ideas and strategies this way. It seems as if God’s ears are waiting for me to speak.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

That’s a hard question! I read almost everything. I love Sidney Sheldon, Joyce Meyer, Marilynn Griffith, Reshonda Tate Billingsley, Jane Evanovich, Danielle Steele. As you can see, I read a variety of genres. I can’t name them all.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

For years I have been trying to write the sequel to my self published novel Sunday Morning. Due to life in general, you know husband, church, family – I just couldn’t seem to finish it. It’s about half way done, but in the midst of that, I learned I could write non-fiction. I decided to try publishing non-fiction while I wait for my novel to unveil itself. So far, I am enjoying writing non-fiction.

Tell us about your current book?

Faith & Fertility (ebook) is about having the faith to believe God will perform a miracle for those who are suffering from infertility. This book introduces readers to a world of faith where the impossible becomes possible. To be barren forever is not God’s plan for us all. There is bitter sweet blessing to being barren and then fruitful. The bible says, the barren woman has joy when a child is finally born. God wants the world to know through people going through infertility issues that all things are possible. He specifically chooses couples to perform fertility miracles.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

This book is was birthed out of my passion to help families that are dealing with infertility issues. It was not long ago that I was searching the Internet trying to find someone that understood what I was going through. During my season of infertility, I need to read an article or book that said God was not punishing me. I didn’t find as much help as I thought. A lot of the articles I found were mixed with doubt or simple said to accept being barren. I finally found one article that helped me to believe God. Now that I have a baby, I know that there is someone out there searching like I once did.

What’s next for you?

I’ve started God’s Gift: Raising Your Miracle Child, this book is for families that have received their fertility miracle and are a little frightened of what to do next. This book will help families prepare to raise their long awaited child.

Also, Kid Konfessions: I Can Have What I Say! This a compilation of short confessions based on Biblical verses just for kids.
