Tabitha, describe yourself for our visitors.
Describing myself is hard, since I’m an introvert. I’m a person who prefers to express what I’m thinking through my writings, or other artistic avenues, like dancing (e.g. African, ballroom, liturgical and freestyle). Because I enjoy dance, my love for music is varied. At home or while driving I listen to just about everything from Classical to Gospel and from Jazz to Neo Soul. Although I’m quiet, I like trying new things such as hot air ballooning.
My next venture, which I’m praying for more courage, is hang gliding. Yes, you read it correctly, a sistah gliding in the air. I know it’s crazy, but hang gliding represents a form of freedom that you just can’t get in an airplane.
As for favorite ministries, my preference is for the no names. To clarify, it’s not to say these particular ministries don’t have a specific name, it’s just that they’re not well known or famous if you will. There’s something about these ministries that resonate a deeper level of truth and depict more of a pulse on the heartbeat of God. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t negate the anointing of those larger, well known ministries; however, there’s something that the no name ministries have that often times larger ministries lack – and that’s spiritual intimacy.
How do you find time to connect with God?
It varies. Because the enemy takes the time out to study an individual, I like to complicate things so that when I’m praying or worshiping God it’s during a time when the demonic realm least expects it. I know my answer sounds a bit odd, but it’s the truth. There are techniques that God can teach a person that will permit you to spend time with him.
Who are your favorite authors?
Frank Peretti, Og Mandino, George S. Clason, CS Lewis, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, and Napoleon Hill.
This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness, The Screwtape Letters, Chronicles of Narnia, Richest Man in Babylon and of course Check Your Keys – Part 1.
Tell us about your journey to publication.
That’s a loaded question. To tell you the truth all this came as a surprise to me. I’m a playwright, I like creating plays or making adaptations of others work and bringing it to life. While residing in the Midwest, God opened doors for me to facilitate worship seminars; in fact, my first seminar was through my own company ForEver Word International. As a worship dancer it’s important for me to really know the word before ministering before Him.
From there God began reigniting my desire to write; not plays, or seminar material, but stories; to me they’re different forms of art. It wasn’t before long that the culmination of seminar materials and my own spiritual journey that the writings started to develop in book form.
Because I have a background in the legal field, I’m a corporate and litigation paralegal, I did some research regarding the publishing industry. Upon finishing my research I concluded it was best that I create Vinson Publishing and self-publish. It’s been a journey full of surprises both good and bad, but God has been with me every step of the way. I found that people whom I thought were my friends, my brother or sister in Christ, and even some fellow authors, didn’t have any integrity. However, regardless of the obstacles faced, I know that the books God has given me (I’m currently working on two other manuscripts) must be read. Every book has a voice, every voice has an audience and the audience is that book’s assignment™.

Check Your Keys – Part 1 is what I call my surprise baby. I’m working on what I now know to be Keys II when God told me to write this atom bomb. It’s about my spiritual journey which God literally took me through during my stay in the Midwest and return home to the East Coast. Allow me to back up a bit.
On the East Coast I knew the word, but it was during my stay in the Midwest that I found God. Talk about an Arabian Desert experience, coupled with the Abrahamic promise I was stripped of everything I thought I knew. My mindset was transformed. God literally transformed my way of thinking. Anyway, during my journey in the various parts of both residences, God literally walked with me and talked with me on how he sees each room in a home. There’s a passage of scripture that reads for my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways, for my thoughts and ways are higher than yours. It’s in the book of Isaiah chapter 55.
To put it bluntly, God loves his creation; he’s upset that his children have settled for less. The church has strayed so far away from its mission that His spirit is grieved. He’s tired of the compromising and the lack of discipline, and allowing what we think are harmless sins to go unchecked. This book was created as an introduction, if you will, to Keys II. To give the reader a taste of what God sees as a death sentence, if we don’t get our acts together.
How did you come up with ideas for this book?
The title came from a sermon I had the opportunity to teach back in 2003. When I began writing both manuscripts God reminded of the sermon’s title. Regarding the ideas, as previously stated, when I was in my Arabian Desert in the Midwest and then upon my return to the East Coast, God visited me regarding areas in my life that I needed to address and finally close the doors on those issues once and for all. He wanted me to see my spirit as an actual home. He reminded me that humanity is not to take or make his Word (e.g. scriptures) common (everyday, of no effect).
The Word does say that our bodies are the temple of God. God decided it was time to do the heavy duty, deep, tailor made spiritual cleansing that his home/my body needed. Those who have a relationship with God and understand the spirit realm can relate to what I’m saying. I just want to add that when I say God visited me I mean that literally. The word of God states Jesus appeared before his disciples after the crucifixion. He appeared before Thomas, who would not believe until he was able to place his hand in Christ’s wounds.
What’s next for you?
I’m finishing up Keys II and working on a few more manuscripts which I hope to release in 2009 and 2010 respectively. I also have several other projects of which I’m not able go into detail, but I promise to let you know as soon as I’m ready to release the information.
