INTERVIEW | Kesha Dawn

Kesha, describe yourself for our visitors.мебели

I’m a mother of a very funny two-year old little girl, Chayse, who keeps me busier than I probably would like to be.  On top of that job, I’m a worker, a full-time student and writer.  I would say my hobbies include mostly reading.  I love to read!  In the summer time, my hobby would most definitely be to swim.  I love gospel music, with John P. Kee being my overall favorite male vocalist.  I don’t count out Jazz or R&B as being on my list as well.

How do you find time to connect with God?

Connecting with God comes on natural assignment.  I talk to Him all throughout the day.  I have a bible in the house as well as my car.  I make sure I read a scripture before starting my day, mostly out of Proverbs and we say our morning prayer.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

Being that I love to read, I can’t say I have a favorite author, but I must say, Linda-Hudson Smith is a great write, she was one of the first authors I read that introduced me to Christian fiction.  Besides Mrs. Smith, Jacquelin Thomas was a great inspiration.  Romance is another great read and Francis Ray, a fellow Dallas, Texas resident is my favorite in that genre.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

My journey to publication started with self-publishing.  I actually with the POD (Print On Demand) route.  IN 2003, after finishing my manuscript I knew right away that I was going to do it myself and found information out about 1st Books, which is now AuthorHouse. After a being laid off the same month of my release date, I didn’t push myself hard enough to continue with what God had given me.  Literally the devil had peeked into my future and I let him snatch that dream.  But after going back to school, getting another job, the birth of my child, who was truly my inspiration, I decided if I were going to be serious with my writing, that I would submit to publishers and see what the outcome would be.I submitted to Urban Christian and the rest is my story.

Tell us about your current book?

By the Grace of God is a Christian fiction story about Gracie, my character who has to deal with the reasoning behind her fiance, Dillian, walking out on her and their relationship.  Not wanting to ‘run after a man’, Gracie tries to put him in the back of her mind and continue living.  When her dreams turn into nightmares, with him being the main aspect, Gracie figures that she need to contact Dillian and receive closure to their end.  Her life then turns upside down as she finds out the reason for his disappearance before she actually finds him.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

The idea for this novel was strictly something sent from God.  I thought I wanted to be a secular writing author.  But when I lost my full manuscript on my PC, from a novel previously written, I knew there was other things that God wanted me to say.  When I start putting down the ideas, the story grew from there and my novel was finished in no less than three months.

List your three most recent books.

My three most recent books:  By the Grace of God (July 2008), His Grace His Mercy (September 2009) An untitled collaboration, as well as my third novel that I will hopefully release thereafter.
