INTERVIEW | Rosa Ferguson
Rosa, describe yourself for our visitors.
I am the married mother of two, yes two sets of twins! I have twin sons and twin daughters. I feel truly blessed that I was chosen for such an assignment. I have always loved to read and now that my children are all grown and have left home, I have plenty of time for my literary passions, reading and writing. My husband and I love to travel so we make the most of our weekends by driving to Savannah Georgia or Charleston SC to eat seafood!

INTERVIEW | Tabitha Vinson
Tabitha, describe yourself for our visitors.
Describing myself is hard, since I’m an introvert. I’m a person who prefers to express what I’m thinking through my writings, or other artistic avenues, like dancing (e.g. African, ballroom, liturgical and freestyle). Because I enjoy dance, my love for music is varied. At home or while driving I listen to just about everything from Classical to Gospel and from Jazz to Neo Soul. Although I’m quiet, I like trying new things such as hot air ballooning.
My next venture, which I’m praying for more courage, is hang gliding. Yes, you read it correctly, a sistah gliding in the air. I know it’s crazy, but hang gliding represents a form of freedom that you just can’t get in an airplane.
Summer Explodes, Tempers Flare!

WHO TURNED UP THE THERMOSTAT?
I know most of us have heard the expression, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” During the summer months, I tend to purposely stay out of the kitchen, only using the oven if I must.
When the Weather Channel folks predict temperatures will rise above 95 and heat indexes even higher, I’m not trying to plan outdoor activities. Okay. I prefer to stay cozy with the air conditioner as much as possible.

INTERVIEW | Sherryle Jackson
Sherryle, describe yourself for our visitors.
I am an educator by profession, writer by passion. I am a wife and mother of two children. My novels reflect an honest commentary about life with Christ. I describe my novels as too real to be preachy, Biblically based, and out-the-Christian-box. A self taught quilter, Sherryle has begun a black memorabilia collection called Church Lady Ways to preserve the graceful elegance of her nine aunts and their churching traditions. Sherryle is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the United Black Writers of Prince Georges County.
COMMENTARY | Whoopi and Jesse Jackson’s Actions Are Unacceptable
WHOOPI AND JESSE JACKSON’S ACTIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE
By H. Lewis Smith
Though he has issued a formal apology for his use of the n-word, Reverend Jesse Jackson’s actions were irresponsible, incomprehensible, and reflect poorly upon him as a supposed role model for today’s African American youth. And to compound this issue even more, Whoopi Goldberg sang praises to the n-word before a national television audience of millions of people. Not only did she devalue herself–as she is an African-American, but also the sacred memories and history of her ancestry, and the black community in general. This type of behavior is totally unexpected of such influential African Americans and completely unacceptable by any African American.
