The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency coming to HBO

The best-selling book/series, The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, written by Rhodesian-born writer, Alexander McCall Smith, will be coming to HBO.
According to BBC News, Alexander McCall Smith’s very popular novel series, which follows the adventures of detective Precious Ramotswe, is to be made into 13 episodes for television. Grammy Award-winning singer, Jill Scott, will play the lead role of Precious Ramotswe.
Currently in production by the BBC, a 90-minute pilot directed by Anthony Minghella and co-written with Richard Curtis will air on BBC One in the UK Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 9pm – 10:45 pm. Filming of the remaining episodes will commence summer 2008 and those episodes will broadcast in the US on HBO.
