INTERVIEW | Renea Collins

Renea, describe yourself for our visitors.

I have two daughters. I am a hair stylist . I am in school now to be ordained a minister and I dance every Sunday at the church I attend on the dance ministry.

God has allowed me to start a ministry of drama that we go throughout the state and perform plays that God has given me through either visions or personel experiences.

I also love movies, skating and video games.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I pray to connect with the Father, and I love to worship Him which will allow anyone to stay in His presences. I read the word of God (bible) often and try to stay away from drama or anything that will keep you out of His presences.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

T.D Jakes is one of my favorites.  Joyce Meiers. I learned a lot from their books, Reposition Yourself from Jakes and Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyers.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

My journey to publication was long. I tried to self- publish myself and ran into all types of hardships. I went to a book club event a couple of years after my long journey to self publish.  I met a woman who is  a well know writer and bestselling author and award winner around the nation.  She asked if my manuscript was there. Well that was that and God did the rest. I was offered a two book deal and the rest is history. Praise God!

Tell us about your current book?

From the Extreme is written as a fiction book but it is indeed my life. It was written to show others that they can truly come out of anything! Being a hair stylist has allowed me to see and speak to all different types of women that have been through all types of things in life and God showed me the best way to reach them is to allow them to know that no matter what has happened in your life, it ain’t over! God can forgive you, teach you how to forgive, heal you and deliver you and make you clean, stand up and shout it from the mountain top, that you can be free.

Well that’s what From the Extreme is about; freedom. The bondage and chains of not only people we hold in prison but prison we hold ourselves in can be demolished if we just give it to Jesus, that’s what From the Extreme is about giving it all to Jesus and walking away from it.

The story is about a woman it starts at age four and takes you through her life; molestation, rape, attempted suicide, two failed marriages, being in the drug game, and attempted murder to say the least.

What’s next for you?

My next book is titled- I Repent, which will be published sometime late 08 or early 09.

I will be on a book tour that will start March 08. I am writing the play for From the Extreme which should be out late 08 or early 09.

I have a stage play titled- It should have been me, that will be performed  on Feb. 15, 2008 at a dinner theater here in Columbus, Ohio.

I will be ordained a minister early spring and will be speaking throughout Columbus, Ohio and wherever else the Lord allows me to speak His word.

    Greeting Renea,

If this messaage reaches you, it’s your friend Byrd(Linda). I read your book and I am so proud of you. I have been married for 12 years to a wonderful man and I have a beautiful little girl! I never new your pain until now; you have always been in my thoughts and on my mind, evertime I would ask about you, know one could tell me anything, please get in touch with me, I know you are busy, but I would love to hear from you. I have always believed that through God you and I were going to be o.k., I remember when you took me with you to see Mr. Lacey and we filled out referrals for G.M together, neither one of us got the job, but God had bigger plans for us both. Look at us now!

    Hello Sis. Renea,

I just want to thank you soooo much for sharing your story – for the LORD’s glory. There are so many women (including myself)who have had/are having similar experiences. Your testimony is awesome, and inspiring. Congratulations on your ordination! I can’t wait for your next book to be released. I work closely with the youth at my church, and it would be a blessing have you come out to Los Angeles and speak one day. :)May God continue to do His awesome work through you!

    With Love,
