INTERVIEW | Candie A. Price

Candie, describe yourself for our visitors.

I consider myself a very multi-talented person, however, I totally understand that the talents and gifts that I possess come directly from my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I am the Founder/Editor-in-Chief of WOW! Magazine, a magazine for Christian women, a Women’s Ministry leader, a pastor’s wife and a mother of two teen girls. I’ve got my hands in a lot of things. So when I relax I like to sit down and enjoy the pages of a good book! I also love to listen to Fred Hammond – He blesses my soul so much because his songs are mostly based on actual scriptures – which I love.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I try to have my devotion in the morning (otherwise my day surely lacks) and talking to God while in the shower is a precious time for me. There’s something about warm water and the presence of God – it just goes together! LOL! I also think that you must be in fellowship with Him all throughout the day – meditating on His Word, singing songs of praise and thinking of His goodness – then you don’t feel as if you are disconnected.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and Betrayal’s Baby by P. Bunny Wilson!

Tell us about your journey to publication.

Although I had never purposed to be a magazine editor, what I do is what I know I have been purposed to do. It has become my passion and I feel as if I’m fulfilling my purpose. WOW! Magazine actually began as a two page newsletter and now look at God! It’s a full print publication for women to Inspire, Encourage, and Empower them toward a closer walk with Jesus Christ!

Tell us about your current book?

First Lady: The Real Truth, A Practical Approach to an Ambiguous Role explores the function of the pastor’s/minister’s wife in today’s Church.  First Lady addresses the fears, anxieties and loneliness encountered by women in this position by counteracting them with biblical and practical ways to enhance their experience as Christ molds them into their purpose.  First Lady is based entirely on the personal experiences of Candie A. Price, a pastor’s wife of seventeen years, who draws from her life in order to encourage and inspire not only pastor’s/minister’s wives but every person who is involved in the ministry of the Gospel.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

The Lord dropped this book in my spirit while I was on a women’s retreat. He allowed me to see the pain and hidden hurts of pastor’s/minister’s wives and the facade that they can so easily wear. I knew that I had something to say to both the wives and husbands, and to the body of Christ as a whole.

List your three most recent books.

In addition to the magazine project, I have several ebooks available on the magazine’s website: Victory in the Battle in Your Mind and Where He Leads You to Submit Will You follow?

What’s next for you?

If it’s God’s will I plan to continue to promote the magazine and the book and to continue sharing God’s word through women’s conferences, retreats, seminars, etc.
