PICTURE MEMORY BOOK INSPIRES CHILDREN TO READ AND WRITE

Bronx, NY (BlackNews.com) – Grandma Buddy’s House is a beautiful loving picture book written and illustrated by Betty Stallings-Murray. The author, Grandma Buddy, focuses on her own family and the excitement of seeing each other. The book is a celebration of wonderful memories, sweet love, warm hugs, favorite foods and honoring family legacy. This book creates dialogue and can be shared with families.

When doing a book signing, Grandma Buddy gives adoption papers to each child, adopting each as her own grandchildren and shares her inspiration for each, and every, one. Grandma Buddy talks about how important each and every child is to the family, and as an elder she needs and encourages them to carry on their positive legacy.

Finally after discussing Grandma Buddy’s House, Stallings-Murray has the children do a literary exercise creating dialogue with family and friends focusing on their own wonderful memories.

Grandma Buddy has received many special awards including being the winner of the 1997 Ezra Jack Keats National Mini-Grant Program for Public Libraries, and was chosen to receive the 2007 “Women of Wisdom Award” from the Delta Sigma Theta Bronx Alumnae Chapter.
