INTERVIEW | Yolanda Tucker

Yolanda, describe yourself for our visitors.

My name is Yolanda Tucker. I am thirty one years young. I am the mother of one teenage son. My hobbies are reading, gardening, decorating, and entertaining friends. My favorite music is Gospel and R&B. I love to eat good food and watch comedy.

How do you find time to connect with God?

I start each day connecting with God. When I open my eyes I thank God for life. I have an one hour and forty minute commute to work each way and I use a portion of that time to pray, praise and worship, and talk to God.

Tell us about your current book?

Blessed Beyond Belief is an inspirational testimony of how God brought me through circumstances such as abuse, abandonment, molestation, teen pregnancy and domestic violence. Blessed Beyond Belief has given me the opportunity to share how God has been a God of second and third chances in my life even when I didnt deserve His love.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

The ideas for Blessed Beyond Belief were purely divine. All the subject matter covered in Blessed Beyond Belief are things that I lived and breathed first hand. Once I decided to become obedient to Gods word and write, then words started to flow. The material was heartfelt and often times very emotional for me during the writing process.

Describe your journey to publication.

Once I finished the initial manuscript, I submitted the manuscript to the Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Award Contest. I wasnt sure at that time if I was going to actually publish Blessed Beyond Belief. I made my decision when I received the comments back from the contest judges. Oh, by the way Blessed Beyond Belief won first place unpublished. When I decided to publish Blessed Beyond Belief I started to seek help and guidance from other local authors. I carried an unbound manuscript around with me and talked about the book to anyone that would listen.

After several months of trying to publish Blessed Beyond Belief, I decided I needed to become gainfully employed again because pursuing my dream was driving me bankrupt. I had an opportunity to meet with a pastor that I have known for most of my life. The purpose of that meeting was to speak about getting help with finding employment. As the conversation continued I shared Blessed Beyond Belief with the pastor and he just happened to know a publisher. Within twenty-four hours I was on my way to becoming a published author.

What’s next for you?

I am currently working on several projects including my first Christian novel. All I Ever Wanted To Do Is Love You is a fictional story about Candice Sullivan. Candice is all too familiar with heartache and pain. A victim of a foster care system that placed her in harms way more than a few times. Candice met some shady characters while in foster care and learned skills that would help her to make some very bad decisions along her destructive journey called Life.

After losing everything that ever meant anything to her, Candice searched for an unconditional love that no man could ever give her. She spent twenty-six years looking for love in all the wrong places, all the while, a little voice kept whispering to her spirit nine simple words All I Ever Wanted To Do Is Love You

I am also launching A Chit Chat with Ms. Tucker. A Chit Chat With Ms. Tucker is a clear, honest, action packed, talk A CHAT for women and teens dealing with real topics (i.e.. Peer pressure, self-esteem, health, hygiene, education, and violence.)

A Chit Chat with Ms. Tucker offers innovative, proactive, real time solutions to real time problems.
