When did you first become interested in comic books?
When I was in the fourth grade, my mother gave me some comic books to read at the beginning of the summer. She told me she was giving them to me so I would stay out of trouble. But she also knew I was behind in school. I was only reading at a second grade level. Every time I came to a word I didn�t know, she would point me towards the dictionary and make me look it up. My mother was a wise woman. By the end of the summer I was reading at a ninth grade level, and I was hooked on comic books. Reading comic books kept me off the streets and out of trouble, just like she wanted. Read more

Vertie, describe yourself for our visitors?
I’m 59 years old, and lately, besides reading and writing I’ve been playing games on the computer. I’ve also been practicing my skills, creating a blog, and a web site. My favorite types of music are any songs about worship. I’m very involved in ministering to my foster children and the seniors at the nursing home, every 4th Sunday, which is at Genesis Eldercare-Network in Plainfield N.J. Stacy, describe yourself for our visitors.
I’ve been a professional writer for more than a decade and a published author for nearly three years. I love to write and tell both fictional and non-fiction stories that linger in people’s minds and hearts and nudge them to make positive changes in their perceptions or in their lives.
Outside of my career, I keep very busy with my family, which includes two children, a daughter and son ages 8 and 5. A good chunk of my free time is spent carpooling them from one activity to another, helping with homework, et cetera. I don’t get to pursue my hobbies as often as I’d like, but they include reading all types of work, from mainstream mysteries and Christian fiction to devotionals and memoirs. I also like to play tennis. I love listening to music, including R&B and jazz, but my favorite is gospel. Read more
